It is Christmas-time again (no it is not, it isn’t even Thanksgiving, but your editors insist that I get this stuff in now).  We can cover both giving and thanks in one column.     Several of our members have given us the most precious gift of all, their time as volunteers.  Let us raise our voices in a collective cheer for Tom Herbertson, who steps in as (temporary) LocSec in Orange County, and William Raley, also a member of Orange County, who steps forward as the Chair of the Publications Recognition Program.

Our thanks go out to Jim Tyson, our newest editor in Hawaii, and Lisa Bailey, a brand-new proctor who also resides in Hawaii.  Lastly, but not least, a hearty welcome to Denise Flanagan who picks up the editor’s blue pencil in Southern Nevada.  Stuff their stockings well; these are the folks who keep our organization on track.     The only place to be on December 13–15 is Utah.  The Salt Lake City group is putting on an RG that promises to be spectacular.  Want to ski or hear the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas Program?  This is the place.  The group will also be hosting the AMC meeting and a Leadership Development Workshop (LDW) on Sunday afternoon.

Eldon Romney, our national Ombudsman, will lead us through an interactive presentation on Dealing With Difficult People.  We will be electronically hooked-up to the Hawaii group—they’ll be able to interact with us during this session.  We know that your group has no “difficult” members, and all of your officers are responsive to your every need, but you will still enjoy this presentation as you hear about problems in OTHER groups.

This will be experiment #2, with short (about 3 hours) LDWs on one topic.  This is also the first time we have attempted to do one with an additional electronic hookup.  Come out and be a part of this historic undertaking and let us know how you like the innovation.  My hope is that it will save money, meet a specific need, and require a lesser time commitment from our volunteers.  In any case, this weekend promises to have something for everyone.  JOIN ME!!!

Cheers, Barbara
