Regional Ramblings |
I am so looking forward to meeting with all of you at the RVC Rap Session at the Borderline Mensa RG in Sierra Vista, Arizona, over Martin Luther King weekend. I want to hear your ideas and of ways the AMC can help your local group.
Speaking of the AMC, Region 9 again stood out at the December meeting, due
to the quality and quantity of our volunteers. Ted Elzinga of Inland
Empire was appointed Chair of the Publications Committee as Tyger Gilbert
of Phoenix took over the Cyberspace Committee (this committee name will
change very soon). Tyger intends to split this committee into two separate
subcommittees in order to streamline the work: Web Content Policy Advisory
Subcommittee and the Web Technology Policy Advisory Subcommittee. He is looking
for members to serve on these committees; now is the time to put all that computer
expertise of yours to good use! Contact him at communications@us.mensa.org
and let him know you want to help.
Other appointments included Bob Cox of Borderline Mensa as the new
National SIGHT Coordinator, and Cookie Bakke of Orange County Mensa was
reappointed to the Risk Management Committee.
A huge “Welcome aboard” goes out to Barbara Buerkle Bradley of Phoenix,
who is the newest addition to our proctor ranks.
Guess which group had the largest national membership growth percentage this
quarter - Borderline! - with Hawaii in hot pursuit. Way to go. Are you
familiar with Project Inkslinger? The goal of this project is to distribute
books to those in need of them. The first effort collected and distributed
books to a library damaged by flood. Since then, local projects have delivered
books to libraries, prisons, schools and shelters. If this project appeals
to you, contact your LocSec or the project coordinator, Marc Lederman,
at inkslinger@us.mensa.org.
Cheers!
