Corby's Corner: GPM Resolutions for 2002 |
Around January 1st of each year people tend to reflect back over the past year and make resolutions for the New Year. Below is my short list of 2002 resolutions for Greater Phoenix Mensa.
1. Throw one of the best and most successful Mensa Annual Gatherings ever!
2. Get more young people involved in Greater Phoenix Mensa. They are our
future.
3. Cultivate and bring on-board the next generation Greater Phoenix Mensa
leaders.
4. Continue the growth, vitality, and activity that have characterized GPM
at its best in the past. Obviously, it will take a lot of effort by a great
number of GPM members to make these resolutions come true!
Although I don’t usually go for such things, I paid good money and hung a plaque in my Computer Room at home. The plaque contains what I think are words of wisdom that seem particularly important for times like these. Below is the plaque’s message of wisdom…
“The longer I live the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude to me is more important than facts. It is more important than education, than money, than circumstances, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company… a church…a home. The remarkable thing is that we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past…we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude… I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you…we are in charge of our Attitudes.” By: — Charles Swindoll— Think about how this message applies to you and your life. You may have the intelligence, the knowledge, and the talent, but could your attitude use adjusting? We all need to approach the New Year with a positive “can do” attitude and put the fears, trials, and tribulations of 2001 behind us.
Have a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous New Year!
