Regional Ramblings |
What a month this has been! Your diligent work in the region has made me look so good that I hardly know who to start thanking first. Bunny Warsh from Inland Empire made The AMC meeting so comfortable I was afraid we would never get rid of them. Her presentation to the RVCs on how do the proper paper work in anticipation of an RG and how to get it published in the Bulletin was a God send. She is our resident resource person for this function, if your group is even thinking about putting on an RG, call her first. She will walk you through the hoops.
Speaking of RGs, Inland Empire did their usual fabulous job and had such a good time putting on their party that plans are already afoot for next year. San Diego is also working on next year. Mark your calendar for Memorial Day back at the Quails Inn. I love RGs, love them, love them, love them.
Cookie Bakke from Orange County has earned the Distinguished Service Award for her many years of service in a remarkably wide variety of capacities, including interim Bulletin editor, coordinator of Annual Gathering activities, member of national committees, and numerous other contributory activities. Good going Cookie.
Orange County also fielded two new proctors just in time for National Testing Day. A hearty welcome and thank you to Nina Cross Brazelton and Vera Louise Kleinfeld Pfeiffer. Even if you are not a proctor, you can participate in National Test Day by making our candidates feel welcome. Offer your assistance to the proctor coordinator by bringing cookies or drinks or just greetings. Give then a copy of the newsletter and invite them to an activity. You will enjoy it and it will make a first impression that will keep the new member coming back.
This month we are welcoming a new editor to GLAAM. Seth Dalob is a new member and in his twenties. There is indeed light at the end of the tunnel. Generation X is alive and well and living in Region 9. In San Diego, a couple of pre teen members have started their own SIG thanks to Akshay Kumar. Lets hope this idea takes off in other groups as well. These youngsters are our future.
Next month we will be welcoming a new Loc Sec to Las Vegas. Those folks sure know how to stage a lively election. The giant brain balloon which was first launched at the AG and covered by all the national media will be in Las Vegas during National Test Day. I am looking forward to seeing how the new or returing board will creatively capitalize on this event for local group publicity. With all the talent out there, I am sure we are in for a good show.
Hutch was spotted at Son Of Asilomar doing his creative mischief. Welcome back, we have really missed you.
Cheers
Barbara
