Sojourns

Phoenix's second Sojourn, on the fifth Saturday of April 2000, to the
Kartchner Caverns near Benson, was beyond our expectations, and the party
afterward at the beautiful clubhouse of Doug Miller in Sierra Vista was
"phat". Translation: the food was scrumptious, the hospitality gracious,
the company warm and friendly. Sierra Vista friends, we thank you one and
all, and look forward to renewing your acquaintance in September, during
your Borderline RG, which will include another tour of Kartchner. Tickets
are available for $15 each for the afternoon of Saturday, September 30th
from either myself or the Borderline RG Committee.

When no one called me about going to Sedona for a Sojourn on July 29th, I
decided to switch back to the trip that I had originally conceived for the
hot summer, which was a tour of Monument Valley where the temperatures would
be in the 80s and dry. The plan was for an overnight jeep tour for $65,
which would start at 4 p.m. Saturday and end at 9 a.m. Sunday and include
dinner, breakfast, entertainment and a sleeping bag if needed. If only a
few people wanted to go, we could go in one car. If more than that were
interested, we could have gone by van or bus, with plumbing facilities
aboard, which would make it a two-day party. The latter would be a best
choice, since the travel time is 8 hours in each direction.

Unfortunately, I learned that I had to work that weekend, so we now have
lots of time to plan such an adventure for some time in 2001, and the
Sojourn for July, was, as you may not have noticed, scratched. Call me if
you are interested in the Monument Valley tour and I'll start planning.
It's something that I personally want to do.

The last month with 5 Saturdays in 2000 will be December 30th. We could
rent a bus and go to Ramsey Canyon, the Nature Conservancy Preserve. Either
on the way down or back we might go to Nogales for some shopping. I
wouldn't want any of us driving on that weekend. With plumbing facilities
on board, it would amount to an all day party, especially if some of us take
musical instruments. Call me if you want me to start planning it
