Candidate: Member at Large

by John G. Seeliger

Putting forward my candidacy for the position of Member at Large.

Biography: Arrived in USA from South Africa in 1970, lived in metro NYC for 12 years, moved to Arizona and joined GPM. Moderator of Sexyg for two years. Was co-chair (with wife Stephenie) of this year’s very successful Phoenix RG, creator of the highly esteemed "Holodeck" movie room.

I have a long history of involvement with volunteer organizations. Was board member, newsletter editor, ultimately President of Arizona Direct Marketing Association; member of Temple Chai Caring Committee; member of Phoenix group Ambassadors For Change. Currently active with Mensa, the AG, and the Service Corps Of Retired Executives (though not retired!).

Statement: I was raised British, in darkest Africa yet, which seems to give me a different and more pragmatic slant on things. Greatly prefer "What do you think?" to "How do you feel?" Intentions don’t count, results do.

Have watched for 20 years the graying of GPM. Same old farts running the show, self included. Want to find ways to reverse that slow suicide, and harness new young ideas and energy. Have played well with all present members of the board, which means I can probably float a few ideas and get them implemented without actually hitting anybody.

Former journalist, professional writer and respected marketing strategist, very clued up about communications and promotions. Can turn these skills to gain positive attention and increased membership for Mensa.
