RVC Report - Regional Ramblings |
The Leadership Development Workshop in Riverside was well attended with 37 showing up. We all learned something that will help us personally and help our local groups. We will hold another one around the same time next year; we expect it to be in the Long Beach area. These sessions are not just for officers but for all Mensans who care about their local group.
While at the LDW, I presented E. Bunny Warsh with a Regional Service Award for all that she has done for Region 9. This is the highest award that I can give. If there is someone that you think should receive such an award, please let me know. The award is for service beyond that of the local group.
As I write this, the March AMC Meeting has not yet taken place. It will be a long meeting. We have to approve the budget and there is a lot of other serious business. I will report on it in my next column.
This month we have CultureQuest =AE, If you signed up for a team but failed to renew your membership before March 31, let your team captain know so that they can call a registered alternative to take your place.
Your local group may still need a representative for the National Nominating Committee. Each local group is entitled to one representative. This is a way to become involved with a short-term commitment. The committee is only active for a few months, beginning at the AG. Although it is not essential, it is best to have members who will be at the AG.
Have you registered for the San Diego Regional Gathering yet? Three Days Before the Mast will be held at a Lake San Marcos Resort near San Diego, May 26-29. Registration of $64.00 made out to San Diego Mensa RG should be sent to Teri Egenberger, 4242 Camino Del Rio N., San Diego, CA 92108. Then, of course, there is Philly Phrolics, The Annual Gathering in Philadelphia. It is time for you to register for both these great events.
