It's time to think about our annual trip to Rocky Point again! Rocky Point (Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico) is located at the northern tip of the Sea of Cortez, about 60 miles south of the border from Lukeville, Arizona. GPM has a "camping" trip at an RV park on the beach, and this year we will be going the weekend of May 12-14. (We were not able to get any weekend in April.)

We will be staying at the Playa Elegante RV Park again this year. For $15 a night you get an RV space with complete hook-ups, showers, and the best restrooms in Rocky Point.

You can actually "camp" if you want to, using tents, sleeping bags, and cooking in your campsite. Or you can bring a motor home or travel trailer, your electric blanket and blender, and eat in the many good restaurants in the area. I even have the phone numbers of several hotels and some condo rentals if you want a little more luxury.

What do we do in Mexico? Well, we eat great seafood and Mexican food, drink Mexican beer and muchas Margaritas. We walk on the beach, visit the bakery and the restaurants, shop, and, of course, sit and talk. On Friday, we have a get-acquainted happy hour. Everyone shares snacks, and I provide Margaritas. On Saturday night, we have a group bonfire. Everyone will need to bring some firewood for this. We sometimes sing around the bonfire, so anyone with musical instruments will be appreciated.

There are usually fireworks on the beach at night. On Friday, some of us make a trip to La Montaña School for handicapped children, bringing clothes, school items, and household goods that we collect and they desperately need for the children.

SPACES ARE LIMITED. Please send your payment for your space no later than April 3rd. There is a two night minimum ($30), but if you want to come earlier or stay later, I can arrange that for you. Rates did go up recently, so they probably won't increase any further.

Rates per space are based on occupancy of two people and one vehicle. There is an extra per day charge for each additional person or animal. Yes, you can bring your pets if you have the proper immunization papers so that you can get them back into the U.S.

All additional charges are paid down there. Do not send me money for additional people or pets, only additional days. One rule that will be strictly enforced: ONLY ONE VEHICLE AND SIX PERSONS ARE ALLOWED PER SPACE. If you reserve a space and, for some reason, are then unable to make the trip, your money will be refunded in full as long as I have someone to take your space. Won't you join us this year?
