Jim Morgan, Master Chef

Jim Morgan and Marilyn McDonald's went to New York for Jim to compete on an episode of the PBS-TV show, "MasterChef USA," to be aired in May, 2000, on PBS stations across the US. Jim won the regional competition in LA to get this far. The show was taped the morning of Friday, February 25, at Metropolis Studios at 106th and Park Ave., New York's largest all-digital Television Production Center and the only HDTV 16x9 ready facility in the United States.

On the show, Jim competed with two other cooks for the right to go on to the semifinals. His menu was Cajun, a fare unfamiliar to the British host, needless to say. Jim's dishes included Chicken and Andouille Gumbo, Blackened Muscovy Duck Breast with Collard Greens and Cajun Wild Rice; and Praline Cheesecake.

Jim didn't win, but Molly O'Neill came up to him afterward and said the judging was "stupidly close," (a direct quote, she said it twice) then she looked at him and exclaimed "You rule!"
