If you your dues are owed and you have not yet renewed, please do so to avoid a long lapse. Many of you choose to remain members even though you do not attend events regularly, so we have not yet met. If there is anything I can personally do to tip the scales to your renewing, please call, email or page me and I will respond.
We considered having a "renewal party", but frankly the expense could be too great considering the small stipend we receive per member per year — that pesky fiscal responsibility thing. Membership Events
It seems to me that lately event sponsors have been more disappointed than usual regarding event attendance.
I am far from the longest standing GPM member, but have been around long enough to see 2 hiking events, 3 movie events and 3 "singles events" bite the dust, to name a few.
Yet I have explicitly been asked from time to time about those exact 3 types of events being lacking on our calendar. I always explain 2 parts of my philosophy: Only host an event you are happy to attend alone if necessary and, if a "critical mass" does not materialize, drop it and try something different. Sometimes easier said than done.
Membership Directory(ies)
We plan to publish a directory in conjunction with or to some extent in lieu of the June MAAM. To keep costs and potential controversy down, we don’t intend to include any email addresses. This points again to our "on-line directory" (see my March article):
