It makes sense to me to join the revolution of the "internet explosion" with some caution, that is, (1) Only use secure sites; (2) Limit your financial/information exposure. I recommend picking a 4 digit "random" number (not your year of birth, last 4 digits of phone #, etc.). Use this every time you can for ATM cards, VM, numeric passwords, etc. Next, pick 4 random letters -- a word is o.k., but not a name someone could easily guess (e.g. NOT "FIDO", your trusted canine friend).
Keep some identity.
Finally, pick an online handle. This can be less guessable, perhaps your initials and part of your name or including some nickname. Now, Joe Mensan could have all his ATM PINs 3951, and all his Email accounts, etc. with a name JMensan, password EEEK3951. Three things to remember instead of what seems like 1,003. This is for nominal security. Obviously a bank account with $10,000 or other significant assets should be protected separately.
Now what? Register for the GPM Members Only Intranet at www.greaterphoenixmensa.intranets.com. The additional info you need is the registration code, which is asimov98 until March 20th.
