Excom Minutes |
The meeting was called to order by LocSec Mel Anderson at 12:17 p.m. Board members present were Meg Kelleher, Bruce Stiles, Stevie Crowley, Carol Young, Laura Oliveira, Jerry Corbin, Mike Johnson, and Carolyn Robinson. Also present was Kebba Buckley and Glenn Case.
The agenda was approved unanimously and approval of the minutes from the February meeting were tabled until next month. Mel announced that Ron Button had agreed to be Elections Chair for this year and Ted Cosgrove volunteered to assist him. Ron's nomination passed unanimously.
Reports:
Carol Young reported that the next 2002 A.G. meeting would be held on May 14 at the Scottsdale Princess. Anyone interested in volunteering to organize the A.G. is welcome to contact Carol and to attend that meeting with Rose Lee Crutcher from National Mensa.
Mel said that he had talked to the R.G. Treasurer, Yvonne and a ballpark figure is approximately $1000 profit.
Kebba Buckley, who is a member of the National Mensa Membership Committee, said that some family rates and incentives were being discussed. Glenn Case, the new MAAM editor-in-training, reported that doing the March issue in tandem with Stevie had been helpful and that when he received the software, which Mel bought at a great price online, arrived, he would take over full responsibility.
Jerry Corbin reminded the group that the Forum had begun meeting at its new location, the Pyle Recreation Center and that he was still seeking a free site for the monthly testing. The income from the testing and the cost for renting space are just about equal, according to Laura Oliveira. Jerry also reminded the Board that March is national renewal month.
Treasurer Laura Oliveira gave the current checking account balance as $6842.74.
New Business:
Bruce moved and Carolyn seconded a motion that up to $75 be spent per month through June for a testing location unless a free location is found. Passed unanimously.
Carol Young moved and Laura seconded that the Board lend $1500 instead of the previously voted $1000 to the A.G. Committee to be repaid at a later date. Passed unanimously.
Good & Welfare:
Mike Johnson suggested that the election process might be better responded to if the newsletter ran the candidate's biographies in the same issue as the ballot so that voters would have the information at hand. All agreed this was a good idea, except that the bylaws currently require that they be in separate issues. This matter was added to the list of suggestions for the by-laws committee, should one ever actually be formed.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:20 p.m.
