Okay, all together now, 1-2-3: EEEEEEUUUUUUUWWWWWWWWW!!!!!
I write this during the weekend the Starr Report was released. I truly don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Laugh because the details are so, so, so 14-year-old school boyish. Cry because their effect on the office of this Presidency is so disgraceful. Two thoughts run through my head. One from a bumper sticker: "Since I gave up hope, I feel so much better" and one from good ol’ mom: "There’s no fool like an old fool".
It will be interesting to see what the atmosphere is like when this MAAM is delivered. I’m writing these paragraphs as a reminder of how I felt several weeks ago.
But I digress.
Our Regional Gathering plans are shaping up nicely. There’s a long list of interesting speakers who have agreed to participate capped off by Steve Benson. If you haven’t signed up yet: DO SO AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! There is money to be saved. For example, if you sign up for the RG and make a registration at the hotel by Thanksgiving, you’ll be eligible for a drawing that will award someone a FREE ROOM NIGHT.
We have made our plans for Thanksgiving and we’re giving thanks to Pat Hull for opening up her home on that day for our traditional Mensa Thanksgiving Dinner. We will be looking for a few people who will cook turkeys or hams (and get reimbursed for the cost) so start planning to join the Mensa family. This is a wonderful way to spend the day if you find yourself isolated from family. It’s a wonderful way to spend part of the day if you do see your family. You can join Mensa for dessert!
Don’t forget that there’s always room for volunteers. If you want to get active, we’re looking for a Scholarship Chair, Community Services Coordinator (GPM was on a PBS fund raiser once and we’d love to do it again) and RG workers. Oh, and anything else you’d like to organize. Call me at 243-0480 and tell me what you’d like to do to make Greater Phoenix Mensa "greatest".
