… and other pseudo-Roman stuff. I think I have recovered enough from my last New Year's Eve Party to have another one en route to a 2001 American Millennium ending bash. This year we'll commemorate the Roman millennium with Hummingbird's Tongues (sesame noodles) for the Epicureans and bread and cheese for the Stoics to content themselves with. And all can try appearing Togate in a more or less accurate 7x23 toga alba. Or, wear a Tux if you prefer, though casual attire will make it easier to run when the lions are loosed.
Munch away on a variety of goodies for the evening. I plan to have amusing bouches, hors d'oeuvres as well as more substantial food. Vegans will not be forgotten ... as long as they don't mind tolerating the carne-pesci-ovo-lacto-vegans who will also be provided with their kinds of comestibles. Wash it all down with vino, beer, or a soda (there'll be regular, diet, and caffeine free).
I plan to kick things off at 8PM on Thursday 12/31/1998 and end some time after the football games (an optional activity for the athletically inclined -- or reclined as the case may be) on New Year's Day. There will be music (sweet music) and dancing (if those so inclined can find the space, otherwise just stand still and hug) and naturally great conversation. For the hardy souls among us the Hot Tub will be hot and the covered pool will be cool. The bashful may try one of the loaner bathing suits, bearing in mind that there may be brash members inclined to nekkid hottubbing.
You do not have to have attended the night before (or have slept over) to come over for pancakes and waffles and bagels and stuff the next day but it does make it easier if you just have to roll out of your sleeping bag.
I'm actually pretty easy to find. The house is at 18220 N. 45th Street. That's west of Tatum, north of Bell, and south of Union Hills. The only access is via Robert E. Lee. Don't contact a medium (or even a large); that's the name of a street one block south of Union Hills. There is a small area to park on the north side of R. E. Lee near 45th and you can park on 45th itself. Just don't block any driveways.
Coming from Scottsdale/East Valley consider the Pima/Bell corridor your best access to Tatum and go north to Robert E. Lee. West valley should use Bell or Union Hills to Tatum (48th street area). Central and South folk may consider any freeway to Rt. 51 (the Squaw Peak), exit at Shea, go East (right) to Tatum and then North (left) to Robert E. Lee and turn left to 45th. If you go over the CAP canal it's a bridge too far.
Special note to Bruce Stiles who thinks last year was one of the best RGs he's been to: Yes, your reservation counts .... but call anyway.--
