Topic: Why Weekends Are Wetter...

It’s not just in your imagination. According to research findings published in the latest issue of Nature, it does rain more on weekends. In fact, Saturdays receive an average of 22% more precipitation than do Mondays, in some parts of the country. It seems that the amount of precipitation is due in part to air borne pollution particles spewed from the exhausts of millions of vehicles during their weekly commutes.

This surprising fact was only one of the discoveries resulting from important research conducted by ASU climatologists. (The study even made the front page of USA Today newspaper on Aug. 6th.) One of the study’s principal authors, Professor Randy Cerveny will be our speaker at the September Forum. Not only will Professor Cerveny be presenting an overview of their research, but he put it into the context of suspected global climatic changes. It should be a very interesting Mensa Forum, so please plan to attend.

To get to AutoNation, take the Ray Road exit off I-10 East, turn left over the freeway on Ray, then turn left at the first road (Weber), go one block and turn left on Orchard. The Post-Forum discussion will be at Keegans only a few blocks away.
