Young at Heart

Stop everything you’re doing right now and call the Days Inn Coliseum at 257-0801 and reserve your room for the RG. The rock bottom prices of $59 for a room with a king-sized bed and $69 for a room with two queen-sized beds and a kitchenette are only good until December 7. After that, all bets are off. Part of the fun of an RG is staying at the hotel and soaking up the atmosphere. The one we’ve selected has spacious rooms and a great pool and jacuzzi. In addition, the Hospitality Suite we’ve been given is large - no removing furniture from a regular room and hoping for the best. This time, we’ve got one of the meeting rooms on the ground floor – plenty of room for everyone to move around, visit and eat until all hours of the night.

As you read this, I’m skidding rapidly toward that half-century mark, something I could never imagine when I was graduating from college in 1969, only a couple of weeks or so back (or so it seems). I’ve spent the last 11 months adjusting to the fact. I’ve become a one-woman fan club for celebrities like Lauren Hutton (53), Bette Midler (52), Goldie Hawn (52), my new goddess, Tina Turner (57!) and of course all the Rolling Stones (about 165 it seems). I don’t like knowing I’m a half-century, but as long as I can’t stop or change the inevitable, I may as well enjoy it. So I’m throwing a big bash to welcome in my next half-century. Since my birthday occurs on the first weekend, I’ll be hosting the Soiree and moving it to Sunday afternoon at 3PM. Please check the Calendar entry for that day and help me usher in a new decade

Have a wonderful, peaceful, loving December whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, the Winter Solstice, or any other day you’ve selected. It’s a joyous time of the year. Be good to yourself and your fellow human.
